Henri Keski-Sikkilä strengthens software development at Vitec ALMA

Henri Keski-Sikkilä joined Vitec ALMA as Software Development Manager in December 2025. While the company is new to him, the role itself is highly familiar. Keski-Sikkilä brings more than 20 years of experience in the software industry, having worked first as a software developer and later in a range of software development leadership roles.

At Vitec ALMA, his core responsibility is to lead software development. In practice, this means developing both the software itself and the processes behind it.

“My role is to guide how our software development teams work, how we plan development, how we carry out testing, and how we deliver new features to customers as efficiently and with as high quality as possible,” Keski-Sikkilä says.

His previous experience combines two areas that are especially important to Vitec ALMA’s customers: deep expertise in software development and a strong understanding of ERP systems.

“I have previously worked on developing, for example, an ERP system for the manufacturing industry and control systems for the marine sector. That experience is also valuable at Vitec ALMA, because the ALMA system is used in technically demanding environments where information management, maintenance, and operational reliability are critical.”

According to Keski-Sikkilä, customers will see the impact of his work in the end result. From the customer’s perspective, what matters most is that the software meets their needs, performs reliably, and continues to evolve through regular updates and new releases.

“When software development processes, testing, and team practices improve, the result is higher-quality software, fewer errors, and a better user experience. All of this helps our customers run their own processes more smoothly.”

A long-term approach to development

One of the most timely priorities in Keski-Sikkilä’s work is the development of webALMA 5.0. It is part of a broader transformation in which the ALMA system is moving to a new-generation cloud service. The product renewal and the rollout of WebALMA 5.0 will progress in phases throughout 2026.

“We are building a system that will serve customers well into the future and that we can introduce step by step in customer environments,” Keski-Sikkilä explains.

Cloud-based systems are already familiar territory for Keski-Sikkilä from earlier stages of his career. At Vitec ALMA, he brings experience from both hands-on development work and the leadership of development teams.

“This combination is important when we renew our software products while also making sure that development moves forward in a controlled way and with customers’ needs in mind.”

Another current focus area is the use of artificial intelligence in software development. Keski-Sikkilä takes a practical view of AI.

“At Vitec ALMA, we already use AI in the day-to-day work of our development teams, for example in code generation, code reviews, test creation, technical documentation, troubleshooting, and the analysis of code and information security.”

At the same time, he emphasizes the importance of using AI correctly and securely.

“New tools deliver the greatest benefits when we build clear operating models and good practices for their use.”

What attracted Keski-Sikkilä to Vitec ALMA was the opportunity to apply his expertise in an environment that is genuinely future-oriented. He already knew the company and its people before joining, so his impression of the employer was shaped by more than the recruitment process alone. He had already formed an initial understanding of the company culture and ways of working.

“We develop software with a long-term perspective based on our customers’ needs, and at the same time we are also developing our own way of working,” Keski-Sikkilä says.
