Monica Kolppanen transitioned from Project Engineer to Training Coordinator
Monica Kolppanen began her career at Vitec ALMA as a Project Engineer in August 2022. At the turn of the year 2025, she moved into a new role as Training Coordinator. At Vitec ALMA, the Training Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that customers receive clear, up-to-date, and tailored training for using the ALMA system.
"My work combines system knowledge, customer understanding, and the ability to structure even complex matters into a format that is easy to grasp," Kolppanen summarizes.
Kolppanen holds a degree in Electrical Engineering. Before joining Vitec ALMA, she worked in building technology and electrical drafting. As a Project Engineer at Vitec ALMA, she was extensively involved in implementation projects, especially with FieldALMA, which is designed for electrical and automation design. Her background in building technology and electrical drafting provided a solid foundation for understanding technical systems.
"In the role of Project Engineer, I got to know ALMA in detail, and now as a Training Coordinator, I can use that expertise to support our customers. Working in technical customer service has taught me how important it is to recognize the customer’s perspective and provide support in a clear and practical way," Kolppanen says.
Implementation training is always included in the delivery of the ALMA system. Additionally, the system is designed to guide and assist users in performing the correct tasks. However, Kolppanen wants to help customers make the most of ALMA’s features.
"I believe that through a practical approach and hands-on exercises, we can give our customers even more confidence in using ALMA."
The role of the Training Coordinator involves tailoring training to each customer
"The first task is to bring clarity and structure to the training content and organization. I personally deliver part of the training material, and based on the customer’s needs, I assemble training teams from our experts—selecting those who are the best specialists in the customer’s industry and the specific ALMA product," Kolppanen promises.
Interest in mathematics led to a technical career
Kolppanen chose a technical career because she wanted to combine her strengths and interests in working life.
"My very first qualification was as an electrician. Mathematics has always been my strength, and I also enjoyed working with my hands. In the electrical field, I was able to combine these," Kolppanen explains.
She found that she felt comfortable in a male-dominated field and went on to study electrical engineering. While working in building technology, she came across a job advertisement from Vitec ALMA.
"I hadn’t heard much about Vitec ALMA as a company, and the software industry was unfamiliar to me, but the job ad was so interesting that I decided to apply—and it was definitely the right decision."
Support from the work community made the transition from building technology to a system provider easier.
"Vitec ALMA has an incredibly good team spirit. We have professionals with decades of experience in industry and software, and people share that expertise very well within the company," Kolppanen praises.
The role of Training Coordinator is part of Vitec ALMA’s strategy, aiming to further improve customer support and service. When the role was being considered internally, Kolppanen proactively expressed her interest.
"The transition felt natural because I had a strong desire to learn, support, and teach. I want to share with our customers the same expertise and confidence in using ALMA that I’ve gained thanks to the professionalism of our team and colleagues," Kolppanen concludes.
