As a SaaS provider, Vitec ALMA is responsible not only for development but also for the security of the entire system and the cloud service used for its distribution.
- Our customers are demanding, often critical for operational reliability, so the level of security required is high. Our job is to ensure security at all layers and in all situations: in development, operations, and customer support. We have received ISO 27001 certification. It is an international standard that defines the requirements for an information security management system.
Penttilä has a quarter-century of experience in the technology sector.
- My work history includes mechanical engineering, chemical process industry, and also some time in the marine industry. What unites all my previous experience is that the work has involved project management, maintenance, automation, and related software development.
Like many other Vitec ALMA experts, Penttilä moved from industry to a system provider. This helps to see things from both the customer’s and the provider’s perspective. Penttilä is also responsible for the ALMA system’s ehsqALMA module.
- At my previous employer, I worked for about four years in EHSQ roles with the title Health and Safety Engineer. Occupational safety and environmental safety in the process industry became familiar. That’s how I came to work at ALMA, and I have now been here for eight years.
Product development is partnership
Penttilä was attracted to Vitec ALMA because the software was already familiar and its potential was known.
– I saw in practice what the software is capable of and how it can be utilized in developing the customer's operations. In addition, the company has always had a competent team. The combination of a strong product and a competent development team, as well as the opportunity to influence the direction of the software itself, created the feeling that the opportunity could not be missed.
The ALMA system is in many ways and constantly in the midst of change. The Product Development Director and his team are determinedly taking the ALMA system to the next level and the next generation. This is supported by a customer base committed to development and the widely used software.
